What is Community?
The show’s Facebook page puts it best: Community is a smart comedy about higher education - and lower expectations. Starring Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Alison Brie, Chevy Chase, Daniel Pudi, Donald Glover and Yvette Nicole Brown, the show follows a group of misfits at Greendale Community College, the world’s worst institute of learning, as they learn and grow. Clever, hilarious, and heartwarming, the must-see show airs Thursday nights on NBC, and is currently in it’s fifth season. On break due to the Olympics, it returns February 27th at 8/7c.
So, why should I watch Community?
Besides the the awesome acting, the killer writing, and the lovable characters, it has references, wit, and humor that can appeal to even the most difficult to please. For a few more reasons check out the following articles:
Do I need to watch the whole show before I can start watching it live?
Absolutely not! In it’s essence, Community is a comedy, not a plot-driven drama, and while watching it in order gives it some more depth, its not absolutely necessary.
If I do want to watch Community, how would I go about doing that?
While Community is not on Netflix, it is on Hulu Plus, and can also be view through this website, which is what I used to catch up. Other alternatives include purchasing/renting the DVDs.
Why is it so important I watch Community?
Besides the fact that it’ll make your life better, Community has been in frequent danger of being cancelled repeatedly. Currently on it’s fifth season, a sixth is possible, but certainly not definite. The ratings will need to be pretty high to be sure. That’s why upping the number of people who #watchcommunity is important.
I WANT TO SAVE COMMUNITY. What can I do?
The short answer - watch the show. It’s only 30 minutes of your life, once a week. If you hate the show and can’t bear to sit through it, DVR it. Tell your friends to watch it. Tell your family to watch it. Turn it on while you’re doing your homework. Do whatever you can to save Community. Here’s an in-depth list of other ways you can save the show.
